How do Muslims celebrate Eid?

Eid al-Fitr, or Eid ul-Fitr, is one of the most joyous holidays in the Muslim calendar and one of the two major festivals in Islam. It marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and prayer.

During Eid, Muslims are supposed to demonstrate the importance of family unity by visiting relatives and helping the poor and needy. Every year, Muslims look forward to Eid al-Fitr as a time when they can express their gratitude to God for providing them with their needs throughout the year.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. In Arabic, Eid means celebration, and for good reason: it brings an entire community together for food, prayer and much more. When Ramadan ends, they celebrate with a three-day festival called Eid al-Fitr.

This celebration begins with a special prayer service, which is followed by visits with family and friends. Women go out for Pakistani eid clothes

Before celebrating you must make sure that you have made your intentions for performing the prayers known. It is a good practice to make these intentions regularly (i.e., weekly or daily). For Eid al-Fitr, it is preferred to pray Tahajjud (the night prayer) before sunrise and perform Fajr.

If not possible, then one should at least wake up before sunrise and recite some of the Qur’an in preparation for Eid Salah. If one has performed their last obligatory prayer of Ramadan with Jamaat (congregation), then they are still required to perform Wudu in preparation for Eid Salah.

Gift Giving

Since gifts are given on Eid al-Fitr, you may have some concerns about whether or not it is okay to give or receive gifts during Ramadan. Is it okay to buy and receive presents as a Muslim if they’re for Eid al-Fitr, or does it violate one of Islam’s major prohibitions? The answer: It depends.

If you’re in an Islamic country where Ramadan is being observed, then giving and receiving presents for Eid al-Fitr would be fine. However, if you’re in a non-Islamic country that doesn’t observe Ramadan, then your gift should be simple and inexpensive (such as flowers).

In general, any time when fasting isn’t required—including Eid al-Fitr—gifts are permissible so long as they don’t cause harm to others. So go ahead and exchange presents with your loved ones!
